"But the angel reassured them. Don't be afraid. . ." Luke 2:10 (AMP)

When my husband, Jeff, was eleven years old, his mother died. Life, as Jeff had known it, was forever changed. As he packed his things to go live with his father, he found himself giving up everything familiar including his home. He loved his father. However, the disruption of his normal surroundings of home, school, and friends coupled with the grief of losing his mother was a lot for him to bear.

A few nights after his mother's death, while lying in the darkness of his new room, Jeff felt overwhelmed with the grief of his recent past and the uncertainty of his future. "What will I do without my mother? What does my future hold? Why did God let this happen?" These were among some of his troubling thoughts.

Jeff had been raised in a church family but now his faith was shaken. Gripping his covers, he felt fearful and alone.

Suddenly, something appeared. Clothed in the splendor of a brilliantly white, flowing robe, it stood at the end of his bed. He couldn't tell if this being was a male or female. Then he heard a voice that said: "Don't be afraid. Everything will be all right."

Instantly, Jeff experienced an incredible peace. It was like nothing he had ever felt before. He knew this amazing being was an angel sent by God, and Jeff was now certain everything would be all right.

Since this event, Jeff often feels the presence of God surrounding him. He doesn't understand why he was blessed with the heavenly visitation but he feels humbled to have witnessed God confirming His love and protection in such a powerful display. Today he can still hear those reassuring words: "Everything will be all right." This memory serves as an anchor for his soul.
